Going through Parker Hale papers this morning found this, never knew they actually made a .22 SUB CALIBRE training kit for the Boys Anti Tank rifle along with Enfields version

In Canada they were made by Cooey for the Long Branch made Boys.

One weapon I had always planned to fire, and see exactly what damage it inflicted on any armour, anybody fired one or even got one?

I had occasion to shoot one back in the '80s when at our training base, a friend owned it and stored it at my house. It was passable because of the sheer weight. Another man here owns one of the sub cal rounds in .22...I forget if he has a gun, I haven't been over to his house in years. He's had shooting quantities of ammo for years though, all Kynoch. They were designed to penetrate plate steel as in the armor of WW1 until the '30s...

I've got a 1941 dated BSA Mk1 but no sub calibre device. I know that there was one dug up by another forum member. No news on the possibility of the Boys becoming an obsolete calibre.

I've fired one Gil plenty of times on Salisbury plain FF range. We got away with using the same range template as the .50 Browning...., I think it was 7 miles. The projectile went straight through a ferret hard target. I have a funny feeling that another forumer was with us when we fired it. There was a bit of a sequel to this too. The ferret we shot at was partially concealed below a earth bank and the top of it had been shot to pieces pretty well. But the engine, wheel stations and transmission was surprisingly intact. VERY intact in fact! So intact that during the next REME recovery trade test period where we had access to the FF range, it was arranged that one of those being trade tested on the end-over-end part was someone who was restoring one. Now he's got a shot up one as well!

Prone, it's a good solid shove, but it's not intolerable. Need good hearing protection, though. Also fired one in .50 BMG, w/o a muzzle brake. Definitely too much gun.
