Just got a ag42b wondering if anyone has reloaded for these and what powder was working best?

Probably belongs in the "Swedish" page, but, any load that is roughly equivalent to standard 6.5 x 55 Swedish ball ammo should be fine.

One thing: When you are shooting and decide to play with "single loading", ALWAYS feed from the magazine. If you manually feed a round into the chamber and release the breech-block to fly forward under spring pressure, you will end up with damage to the case rims and, after a lot of repetitions, damage to the extractor.

ALWAYS feed from the magazine, even for "single-shot".

Be careful with these, if you exceed pressures that cartridge can bite quickly. Those guns can come apart too...stay within loads prescribed in the manuals.

Not a big deal other than guys that are into Swedish rifles but not Swiss rifles will never see your post. Swiss rifles are sort of a niche since most are straight pulls and the rest rimfires. I have been searching for a Ljungman I can afford for several years with no luck. Don't often even see one I can't afford. I have a Hakim which I got before they too seemed to skyrocket in price. Lot of fun to shoot but as they are in 8mm, I can't help you with reloading. They also have an adjustable gas port which allows you to use a greater variety of ammo.

Some notes.

A) there was never a military load that was ideal for the AG-42b, they designed it to use two different pressure loadings of ammo without a adjustable gas system, so in reality it didn't work perfectly with either the M94 loading or M41. One of the 'solutions' practiced by the Swedes was to oil the cartridges, which is treating the symptom not the problem (and never a good idea, as it puts much more strain on the rifle).

B) do not use Federal ammo or primers in these rifles. I had a out of battery detonation with a AG-42b due to the fact Federal primers are more sensitive than standard primers.

I don't have anything else to add as to what would be a good loading, as I never handloaded for mine when I had it.

Thanks for all the info. I got two of them I traded a guy a Winchester pump 22 for them. One was heavily molested (sportized) I got rid of that one. The one I kept was pretty much all original except missing the bayo lug.
