A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. Lee Enfield sent me the correct answer by private message and WarPig 1976 also had the correct answer: Frenchicon Chauchat Machine Rifle Model 1915 in 8MM Lebel.

Also chambered in 30-06 for US WW1 troops which was a failure

Many were rebuilt between WW1 and WW2 by FN in 7,92x57mm for Poland and a few others

Also some converted to 7,62x39mm Sovieticon and others converted to only shoot 7,62x39mm blanks semi auto for reenactment WW1 French groups

The bolt and carrier were found years ago in a parts box, I saved the bolt as I thought it would provide a nice spare extractor that would fit the RSC M1917 semi auto rifle -it is not the same!
