    No1 Mk3, No 4 Mk1, No 5 fore-end gap

If I'm not wrong, No 1 Mk 3, No 4 Mk1, No 5 have all the same draws pattern inside the fore-end. In a previous posts about the No. 5 fore-end, a gap of 0.010 between the rear of the fore-end and the front face of the butt socket was acceptable. Is the same gap can be apply to No 1 and no 4 too?

    Thanks!

Please re-read the thread about fitting fore-ends - if anyone of a more computer literate nature will resurrect it..........

I was refering to an old post about a no 5 fore-end fitting ( re-doing the draws). It was said that a gap until 0.010 can be measured between the fore-end and the face of the socket.

    Try this post - https://www.milsurps.com/content.php...ter-Laidler%29

Seems to say "NO GAP" - specifically: "We are going to make this taper work for us by using the taper of the DRAWS to DRAW the fore-end rearwards, towards the butt socket where it’s going to abut rock solidly."

    I just found the quote:

You can have up to .010" gap between the rear of the fore-end and the front face of the butt socket. If it is MORE, then you should patch the draws to decrease the gap by drawing the fore-end rearwards to close the gap right up to nothing. It must be a tight fit after refitting or patching the fore-end

    This came from this topic:

    https://www.milsurps.com/showthread.php?t=16377&page=2

If I understand well, the gap should be nothing or close to nothing when new. After many years of shooting, if the gap reach more then 0.010, the draws should be done?
