The FN C1 with an optic...

Here's an article written by our own Capt Stevens...Hope he doesn't mind me sharing. I had one of these optics issued in 1975 to back up the peace talks in Nicosia Cyprus, spent time on the roof of the Ledra Palace hotel with it. Some of you know the spot of which I speak...

    Enjoy...

I bought and imported a half dozen of the C1 sniper scopes back in the late 1990's. All had the cases and some of the accessories present. I went ahead and sent them to Ernst Leitz, Limited in Nepean, Ontario before they moved to Midland. Some of the technicians that had serviced them for the CF in the 80's were still employed there at the time. They serviced them again for me at a very reasonable cost and then emptied out the spares drawer and sent all the little tools and lens cleaners that they still had left. I sold off all but one that finds it's way on to my homebuilt C1A1 from time to time. It's a neat little scope for it's day.

More like a marksman's scope to me than making the FN C1 an all seeing/dancing sniper rifle...

I'd have to agree with you Jim going by today's standards. Dedicated sniper rifles and optics have come a long way since then. I'll have to break it out and have a shoot one of these days just to see how it performs.

Pics or it didn't happen of course... The flexible body cover doesn't help. Not much you can do in that either. Even the shored up new ones don't match the rigid bolt guns...
