    Cool Snoring, I hear snoring

This forum is certainly not what would be described as a hotbed of activity! Guess we've all been too efficient in answering questions - nothing seems to be left!

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. I see the same thing on other sites (except the "Political Arena"). I'm also seeing the "self-deemed experts" and their friends starting to shut out the newer members who are looking to learn.
    Fortunately not here yet.

Maybe there are fewer enthusiasts and collectors of 'traditional arms'.

I guess this is a bit physiologic. We're not dealing with something evolving, rather the opposite.
Many people, me too at the beginning, join for some curiosity and then, after roaming the forum for some time and getting all the needed answers, get a bit distant.
I like it here because I can find many equally minded persons, many with great knowledge, and exchange lots of information.
Military history, books, range reports, all things that add-up to the pure passion for milsurps.
I would be surprised if this forum were a lot "faster" than this.
Quality is here, which is important.
For me, trying to develop from shooter to shooter-collector, this place is simply great.
    Keep the spirits high, guys!

Well, I went back and ran a report from July 1st until October 31st and overall, the site shows a slight increase in activity ..

It varies throughout the year and is usually slower in the summer...

Also, some forums are generally busier then others....

Here's some graphs and charts that might be of interest ...

    Regards,
    Doug

Thanks for the feedback - wasn't complaining, more like lamenting, or just making an observation. I know what part of the "problem" is; just don't like to dwell on it - attrition. My primary interest is Springfields from 1865 to 1915. This is not a super-popular category here. Many of the old collectors are gone, their holdings dispersed, and the interests of many younger enthusiasts lie elsewhere - it is a natural progression. In any event, I stand ready to share whatever knowledge I can.

I have noticed this happening for awhile as well. Browsed this site for years and only last year did I make an account here. It is just so much easier to navigate around on here than other sites.

Well, I have been using the search function more and familiarizing myself with the contents of the Knowledge Libraryicon.
But... I just won a nickled Kragicon rifle that Im going to need some help with. Probably barrel swap, maybe home nickle strip if possible etc. The thread about the parade Krag, Kentucky Krag and other threads by regular posters keep me going. The knowledge here is humbling so I just read on....and try not to be a bore.
