My 1893 Enfield Mk I* has the hole, my 1903 Mk I* (done up special order for NZ apparently out of parts) does not.

My 1889 Sparkbrook Mk I* does not have it. Interestingly, the triggerguard is numbered to the rifle in font like on the barrel/ body.

Where abouts on the trigger guard is the number, Ridolpho?

Never seen such, but I have often thought about this and how critical parts were serial numbered to the rifle. Like the rear sight leaf to the barrel, bolt to receiver.. And with later Sht LE rifles, the nose cap was hand fitted, matched and numbered. Fitting the wrong one from a table full of dismantled rifles could have an effect on accuracy.

Trigger guards will swop out easily. But I have found that fitting random trigger guards to an action does have a measureable effect on trigger pull and let off. This too could effect accuracy, so why not serial number trigger guards to keep them with the rifle?, thought I. I have seen one, two or three digit assembly numbers on some LE rifles, but not serials.
I figured that it never happened, until now....
