1903 Springfield High Hump handguard with cool looking repairs

I'm been trying to find a 1903 Springfield High Hump handguard since June or Aug 2017 everytime I find them they sell for between $180 and $200. I got lucky today and picked High Hump handguard and a milled smooth buttplate for $33.00 total!

This handguard is not the best, it has a bunch of repairs and looks cool the way they were done. I actually like it and like the fact that I have the right style handguard for my year rifle. I'll keep looking for a Remington in better condition but this will do just fine for now.

    Happy Happy Happy!

Yep, done when they were needin' them... Exactly the sort of patching Peter has told us about, when he was an apprentice...and such.

Greek or Britishicon ... in the U.S., when dealing with a cracked handguard, they would say "Pity" and reach for another new one. Spare parts were hard to find overseas for U.S. weapons.

Thank you for the historical information that makes this find all the more interesting. I'm glad I bought it if for nothing else it's Historical value and the craftsmanship in the repair- a lost art in today disposable society

The front handguard on my Garandicon has a similar repair. Definitely an interesting look!

When the Greek M1903s were in their heyday of sales, you would see anywhere from 1 to 6 "biscuits" on some of the handguards.

Maybe after I find another one I'll mate this one with the Greek stock I have.
