My New No4 MKI* Long Branch

G'day there everyone. I recently got a hold of my first ever No4 Enfield after owning and mucking around with plenty of SMLE's and LE's. From what I can see absolutely everything matches, including wood. The only let-down is the barrel that won't polish up, and some corrosion in the lands'. Apart from that it looks used and abused, but looked after well enough. I know nothing about these rifles: It took me a few minutes to figure out how the bolt comes out honestly. It has 'US61' painted onto the butt-stock and fore-end and front top wood. '6181' is the end of the serial number. Is this 'US61' important in military terms, or importing markings?
Any questions just ask, and info just share and I will appreciate it all. Cheers.

That serial number on the butt socket has been put there after the original number became too difficult to decipher after a turn in the bead blasting cabinet. It looks to me as though it's been through the typical pommy bead blasting, phosphating and painting system. The white painting is not one of out typical marks

Why US 61 and not the serial?

Peter I'm not sure what 'Bead blasting' means in Enfield terms. I am sure it has nothing to do with fitting tyres haha. And you say pommy? Does that mean it likely went to britain? Thanks.
