    Arisaka Crest

    Hi All,

Can anyone identify the crest on my Arisakaicon?
I bought this rifle as a "trainer" but it is a 7.7 with what looks like a cast receiver.
It's a full size rifle but has me stumped.
    Any answers will wonderful

    Thanks

    Gil

Hi. Looks like the Japaneseicon character for the number 4 with the two concentric circles to me.
Rummage around here. The site owner is a Canadianicon university professor and it's as comprehensive as any site gets. Deals with all things Japanese weapons. All the links work too.

I would say you have a post WWII Arisakaicon manufactured in Communist China. There are numerous receiver Arsenal marks known, but probably not all. Is the rifle cambered in 7.9x57 (8mm mauser) or 7.7 Japanese? Is the barrel rifled? Could you post a photo of entire rifle please.

    Thanks!

If it has no rifling in the bore, then you defiantly have a trainer of some sort.
