    MLE Mk I

I just purchased a very nice MLE MkI rifle, but it seems to be missing the front action screw and clearing rod. Any ideas on where to source these?

Front action screw as in, front trigger guard screw? If so, the screw from any MLM, MLE or Sht.LE series will fit.

Clearing rods were removed from service in 1899, so the rods are a lot rarer than the rifles. A reproduction one is probably the way to go.

There's a man in Calgary that makes these scarce rods for the Calgary gun shows...used to be an armorer I think. He's usually right at the door where you come into the show. If needed, I may be able to find his contact...

Provided you have access to a lathe, round needle file and a set of 3/16 X 26 W taps and a die they are not particularly difficult to make. Just need a little time and patience.

Congrats. Canadianicon markings on the MLE? Photos?

Hank usually has a bunch of his various repro clearing rods at the big Easter show here in Calgary, not usually at the smaller shows, though.
