Spares? Bolts, stocks, firing pins, etc.

Say a Country contracted or built for themselves say, 10,000 rifles. How did they figure on the amount of replacement parts?

He must've had an office next to the guy in charge of building Aircraft Carriers, he learned from him.

Sometimes it was fairly arbitrary, or based on experience with the last model. The Britishicon thought US scale of spares for Thompson guns was far too generous, based on their own experience with the gun in the Middle East, and that user demand for some parts was practically nil and could be supplied by cannibalising u/s guns if needed.

Not sure of the extra parts were for battlefield use, or for base repair. I do know that special vehicle were made to serve as mobile armoury. Have see field repair kits. But as Cinders states alot of parts come from other damaged weapons. I been tring to get my hands on that left over parts for years. I think the US Government still has Parts left from the civil war in stock
