Springfield m1880 Hunting Knife and odd scabbard

Hi all,
Recently picked up a Springfield m1880 knife, brass guard, looks good, sharpened over time. The scabbard is interesting. A thin metal, tin maybe? Soldered together with little design elements added. Definitely not Indian as far as I can tell, homemade at some point in time. The only 'machined' looking part is the one strip of punched/stamped metal near the throat. But it does fit like a glove though. Anyone ever see anything like this?

Tin scabbard looks like it could have been made to use m1880 knife as a Theatrical or Fraternal Order ' ancient prop'.

You don't see the issue knife & scabbard in period photos very often.

I passed on on a dealer's table at the Chilliwack show about five years back priced at $100...and didn't look at it because the man was worldly and knew his stuff. Obviously a repro...so a few hours later it was priced correctly...oops!...

I got lucky at a Raleigh NC gun show last fall. I had seen a 1880 hunting knife for several shows and ask the dealer if I could look at it again but that I could not afford it. He said no one had offered a price or haggled with him, the price was 750 dollars, so I said $400 he said make it 425 and it is yours. So I now have a really nice 1880 hunting knife with a very good scabbard.

I don't think I have broken the $200 barrier yet for an edged weapon. Come close a few times. Swiss officer dagger, Martini Henry blade bayonet. Been pretty lucky with everything else.
