    BRITISH ARMY RECRUITING

This will give are Colonial friends a good giggle.

Here in the UKicon we are struggling to get people to join the Army. The Air Force and Navy are just as short, but thats another story.

Here is a cartoon in yesterdays national paper and a Pathe News Reel from 1948.

Look at 4:53 on the last film rifles being handled carefully under repair lol Peter in his younger days

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Yep......., remember it well. The training was as good as anywhere. REME in the field was also good. 6 Armoured Workshop, part of the 6th Armoured Brigade in Munster. I had that black and white 'mailed fist' as my avatar a few years ago some might recall. Told my brother to look at all the Bedford QL variants

There's another on you tube. Army Apprentice, a tribute, about the closing of Carlisle. I'm pictured with a small group during 8-Div Military Training. Very sad, brought a lump to my throat and dare a say it, a tear to my eye............

Just as a bit of an afterthought. While looking at the REME in the field videa, where the Armourers are repairing No4's and Brens, I looked really hard to see whether I could see any of them picking out LB trigger guards or S marked cocking pieces or Fazakerley fore-ends to keep the rifles 'original' But,m alas, I failed. Nope, never saw it - and never ever saw such a thing in my service time either!

Oh, go on then........ 2.15, armourers outside with rifles during a summers day outdoor lesson. 2.41 a group shot with the most likeable 'Eddie' STONE (some Pistols and SMG's) and Mr HOBBS (woodwork and L1A1), 3.11, me, middle of screen with friends. Those that I recognise, Bill Bowman, Danny McCallister (far left) Jim Howarth, Mac McCallum.

Enjoy it as much as I did

Damn in all my years I have never seen a track blown like that! If there were programs like that here you would have a lot less Iphone's, video games and more teens finding gainful employment for sure. Thanks for sharing.
