    Picked up a 1903 project

Picked this 1.4K Springfield 1903 up today for $200. Barrel ( S.A. 10-44) is mirror bright, looks brand new. Externally, its in pretty good shape with some minor surface rust that cleaned up no problem. It came in what looks to be a Remington 1903A3 stock, which had the very front portion cut off for some reason. ....May try and fix it - for a shooter, and save it for an A3 action some day....

As for the barreled action, I have a nice Keystone C stock just sitting in the safe at the moment...

    Barreled Action...

Someone scribed some info under the rear sight base...Wondering when it was done...Looks to be an SN, followed by an SSN, followed by " WWII, Perry, Michael, and Aaron Cooksey (or Coorsey)

    Stock...

Any additional info some of the experts here can provide would be much appreciated!

If I am reading the SSN correctly (272) that it would be for some one in Ohio.

You are correct, it is an Ohio SSN. Which just so happens to be where I am from, and where it was purchased from as well.
