A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. mono pod

    Hi again,

With the amount of "lookers" with no opinions, maybe there really isn't a differerence!
    You think?

Gets down to which end the mono pod is on I think somewhere there was a military weapon WWII era that had a single front mono pod just cannot remember if it was Japaneseicon probably wrong as the only ones I have seen are fold down rear ones with either a screw down foot or a clip system like the Harris.

One thing I have learnt here is restraint when you make an inquiry as I only just looked at this Q you asked today such comments directed to members will not really endear them to comment on this thread or any other one you may post just a heads up take it for what its worth.

    Cinders....Point taken!

In an earlier post I was cautioned I should get the correct one for my rifle, so I was soliciting
an answer, and it was not meant to be derogatory, but if I/You get 65 to 100 "looks" with no response, maybe it really doesn't matter.

    Thanks

The answer to your question is not a three or four sentence answer. It would be several paragraphs long to go into detail of different lengths and characteristics to differentiate each manufacturers pods within the series.
I suggest you get a copy of "Military Rifles of Japan" by Fred Honeycutt for some basic info and visit the Japaneseicon Board over on GunBoards with a search of mono-pods might be helpful.

    Respectfully,
    James

    Japanese Military Rifles of WW@

    I have to ask one more question...I have a choice of a first edition (1977) or a 5th (1996.)
Would there be any advantage one over the other?

1st Ed's can usually command a higher premium subsequent Ed's may have updated information and will be noted on the cover as such. As the attached pic shows for a revised latter edition.
