    New Ross

I just purchased a Ross MK III. It has a triangular rear sight that I'm not familiar with. Can any give me any information on it. I will try to attach pictures.

    Thanks, Eli

Sounds like the sight on the Britishicon contract MkIIIB rifle. The foresight guards on these resembled those on the P14.

I do have a regular MK III sight. Should I replace the P 14?

    Thanks

No, do not replace it. That is the correct sight for a Mk. IIIB.

Also inspect your stock very carefully for marks other than the standard Canadianicon marks - you might have something that is a bit special.

If your rifle is a Mk IIIB, aka War Office Pattern, then it will have a front sight protector almost identical to a P14/M17 rifle. If it does, then the triangular rearsight (a photo would be good) is correct for it. Your rifle then might also have some different stamps on the stock--perhaps even something like Farsi as a lot of those seemed to end up in the Middle East. IF the rifle front sight has a sheet metal hood over it, held on with 4 screws, then it is a standard Mk III and should have the usual rearsight.

    thanks

It has the ear protectors like the P14. The stock seems heavily sanded with very faint markings.

I'm trying to add pictures but they will not attach. I'll keep trying. Thanks for all the info!
