Due to the highstandard of the photos currently being used, a lot never seen before, we have decided to do an A4 size hard backed book. I am at page 99 already.
Not a mention of rifles being thrown in streams from anyone, other than, "it would be a disgrace" or words sounding lke the things you put your oars in on boats ending in "****ocks"

I have all snipers now including the Argentinian sniper on Mt Longdon, which is an interesting comparison.
The only unit I haven't got is anyone from the Welsh Guards, I have written emailed and pigeon post but nothing back. Even tracked down a Gurkha sniper.
    So coming along great.
At the back end of the book which is predominantly about the L42A1 is a great piece on the L96.
I have certainly learnt stuff about that rifle I never knew, which is by Frank Fletcher an ex 2 PARA sniper, who has close working relationships withe the lads that now own Accuracy International.
Watch this space, all proceeds to the Airborne Assault museum at Duxford!!

Sound's like a very interesting project Gil. I would be pleased to own a copy when it's ready.
Let us know when it's in print and how to order it please.

No problem, it should be around July. Coming to the end of compilations now by each sniper from both sides of the conflict.
Frank Fletcher an accomplished ex 2 PARA sniper in both Iraq and Afghanistan my co author will cover the L96A1 rifle and how it obtained its MOD contract and the hard road it had to production.
Although I have always been an M85 Parker Hale man, and everybody knows my personal views on such a magnificent rifle which should have won the MOD contract, and my mind hasn't been swayed in the least, but I have to say the AW AI rifle is a dream to shoot with nearly everything a sniper needs in one box......except a coffee machine. But hey ho!!

We have both stories that have not been shared before on both the L42A1 and the L96, and on top of that stories from the snipers themselves about THEIR experiences with the L42A1 make this, we think a very unique A4 book for collectors, and more importantly every penny raised goes to great cause, close to my heart!!

Looking forward to it Gil, keep us all posted on publishing progress and point us in the right direction.

Only used an L96 once, for someone like me used to 2"/3" groups from my old surps, the accuracy of the L96 came as a revelation!

Sub moa groups, or 1" groups at worst, a joy to shoot and as accurate as a lazer, even in my amateur hands...

    John,
And like all sniper rifles at the moment, becoming like classic cars...."always worth investing in a complete package"

Great news and a great relief. SNIPERS DOWN SOUTH has today gone in for publication all proceeds in aid of the Airborne Assault Museum at the Imperial War Museum, Duxford, in Cambridgeshire.
I received the last entry from a 2 PARA sniper and now complete.

I will provide details of where you can buy a copy as soon as the Curator has the site up and running. It is a hardback A4 book.
    Thanks for your support.
    Gil
