    Recent purchase 1916 Enfield

Recently acquired 1916 Enfield, I would like to know more about this rifle, I was told it might be Irish issue? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Has the FF stamp on barrel so it is Irish issue.

The "FF" markings indicate Free Irish service. Very nice!

Great thank you for confirming the Irish service, does this make this rifle anymore desirable? also question on the receiver serial number, it appears that it may have been re-stamped? if you look closely you can see other numbers under the serial number, just curious why?

It is normal. My ShtLE Mk1*** has 3 SNs, the original cancelled, then Irish cancelled, then a G### when it was made into a wire-wrapped Grenade launcher. I think Irish rifles command a slight premium. I think, but could be wrong, most are bolt mis-matches because of the way they were shipped to the US in the early 60s which is when most, if not all, were imported, hence probably no import mark.

Do the nose cap, under rear sight, magazine, and rear of bolt handle match the receiver and barrel SN?

HV = High Velocity can use MK VII, Small Cone = Small Cone in the chamber has been increased .002-inch, possible barrel change in 1930.
Seems to be a bit of pitting on the left side barrel near the chamber
