First pic shows that it was not a spring tube. If you removed all the material there would be no room for a spring tube.

Is there a flaming bomb on the bevel? any other marks? what barrel?

    No Harm Intended

    Guys,
I don't know much about it. I posted the pictures as a tease test.
A friend trying to be funny passed along a Email with a story and these 2 pictures, 'acting' like he'd found a Holy Grail for next to nothing $.
I assume he'll chime in. After calling him out on it (me thinking because of the restricted views) that it was a De-milled receiver. But it's not..... It's been ate up from rust. IIRC, he did say he'd seen or heard of this being offered to someone... Again: IIRC as a usable receiver, but I'm not sure. When looking at the condition of the top rail near the Op Slide's stop pin hole, it's looking very much like our current roads torn up from snow melt and refreeze, along with the beating they take from the snow plows. I don't know of any involvement by MR and only used Marcus as part of the tease, as if it was something rare!

But look closely it might be a nice example of/if anything comes out of the Philippines

Charlie has not shown the last picture he was sent. It has a hole drilled into the left side of the front receiver ring right into the threads in the receiver. I would assume like Charlie that it was rusted out but it may have been hit with an acid too. But anyway one looks at it the receiver is toast. The owner wanted $220 for it and what surprised me is that someone did buy it. I just hope and pray he doesn't try and turn it into a working carbine. But as Marcus said, "It's one of a kind" ( thank god.) and it's rare. (Thank god again.) And no Marcus you can't have it even if it's a one of a kind.

Charlie ah I mean Joe. I know it's tough on you as you can't walk and chew gum at the same time but with professional help, you will make it. Well maybe make it if you don't run into anymore horses that is. Yes I sent you a third picture but it must have gone into the vapors of electronic static known as the internet. I will send it to you again Joe.

Joe Smith here sharing the last of the 3 pictures of this Collectors Grade (F -) Underwood T coded Sub Contract made 1/2 Spring tube receiver.
Note the 'Custom' drilled Gas Escape hole, made to work with the late Op slides and round bolts also found with the gas escape hole in the bottom.
A Rare find with the patina expected on a Vintage part.
Some finish wear from the Paratrooper landing in salt water may be visible.

Contact Bruce for more details: Price and shipping
