I saw exactly one in action here in Canadaicon, about 1974/5. I was lead scout for our company and stepped through the alders to see this Sioux with crew, a Sgt and L/Cpl...our OC needed to find out where he was so he chatted with them and then they fired it up, meshed the prop to transmission and away it went. At least I saw one...

I do! Although, dare I say it, I was a blue job in the mighty Wessex. Sad times but also a lot of satisfaction and lots of laughs at times. Did I tell you about 'bombing' runs with boiled eggs.....ah well, perhaps some secrets should remain!!

Question from an American who has an interest in the history of 'The Troubles'..are there still Britishicon troops in Northern Ireland? I believe there was a 'cease fire' called in 1994(?) and one doesn't hear 'IRA' much anymore..at least over here.
Wasn't there a splinter group that got away from the Provos that called themselves the 'Real IRA'?
Really found this thread interesting, thanks guys!

    Anzac,
Since numbers were drawn down in 2007 it is mainly EOD and other essential tasks that keep the remainder active.
    The Real IRA still operate

Was just looking up the RIRA...had no idea that much activity was going on, or how recent it was.
Didn't realize they were responsible for the Omagh bombing either..
