    Result David! Bonus indeed!

I am halfway through my copy & the Sheer Arrogance of the way the Government 'managed' this disgraceful affair. Made my Blood Boil! One thing that did make me wonder a bit though. Was the way The author kept labouring the Point of verbally 'wringing his hands'. at CONSTANTLY 'worrying' where He would manage to find the Funds for his daughters school fees!.......To my mind, you cut your cloth accordingly. If there is no money & you are REALLY struggling. Well, a shame. But you pull your Kids out of that over priced education facility. & find the best school that you CAN afford!!! Ok, there is being a good father Etc. & that is entirely laudable, but........If you dont have the funds to cover education / schooling. You STOP paying out for what you cant afford!

I know it was not his fault that this one area raised it's head so to speak. But, It slightly irritated me that He kept 'Labouring' that point.
When the reality was, it COULD have been avoided by dropping THAT particular school. No?...

On the other hand Tankie, you can only give your kids the best education ONCE in your life. And if it means starving yourself, going cold or whatever it takes, then some might consider that's what you have to do. And if you're starving and cold because of someone elses lies, prevarication and falsehoods TO 3 SETS OF DIFFERENT PEOPLE, AT 3 DIFFERENT TRIALS - then maybe, just maybe, he's got a point. Just my view I hasten to add.

Everyone in the UKicon firearms industry needs to read this book

Yes Pete, I understand your view. But I am still of the mind, WHY make yourself ill & have nothing financially in reserve. For a situation that WAS avoidable? I completely get what your saying about giving your kids the best education you can. However, if your ILL through worry. & subsequently may go down. What use would a dead/ broken Father be?.....

I can absolutely understand him WANTING to educate his Children the very BEST way He could afford. but that was BEFORE this disgusting Episode in his life. Changed all of that, through NO FAULT OF HIS OWN!

IF I had been in his unfortunate shoes. I would have dropped the education to a level that I could afford personally.
With the later impending compensation on the way. He could always get them back into the level that they were. Before this sad & unfair situation developed. Yes, it was many years down the line but. If they actually needed to be back up at that level in the education field.
Then they could have pursued that avenue again to gain any qualifications needed, surely?

Yes indeed, VERY easy to say from the outside looking in. & I have every sympathy & good thoughts for this poor unfortunate soul.
But, simply my PERSONAL thoughts on this. In one area in My view. That He could have taken some pressure off of himself?

A GREAT Shame so many lives were affected unessarcarily. & the damage wrought, to individuals & companies in the UKicon
IE: Left hand not knowing what right hand is doing?......

Bottom line: TYPICAL underhanded, Arrogant, 'Above the Law' attitude of Government Departments. Both past & PRESENT!!!!....DISGUSTING!.....

I read the book a few years ago, I did mention it on Milsurps somewhere ?? although I can't remember a lot of it due to the time I was reading it, ( reading in peace and quiet I can absorb a lot of info, but at times when something else is on my mind, I have the attention span less than my daughter) I'll need to dig out my copy and take it work.

I don't think it was much to do with keeping his kids in the same standard of education but probably more to keep them oblivious of the bigger picture, maybe to do with the circles they were in too.......

Hi Dukie! Yes I can totally understand that point of view. & indeed, Concur.
One's Children should be shielded from outside pressures in life. They too, are innocent's!

It's probably Me, but the way He repeated it in the Book. I still cant help but think of the phrase, 'Living Beyond Ones Means'.

It is a Travesty what Happened to all involved, & they all Have my Sympathy. But the Government doesn't, & from Me. NEVER Will!!!!

Totally Agree Mike, as for living beyond our means, it has never been more wide spread than now, I know a few who are and its only a matter of time........ before their bubble bursts.

I was working part time for the last three years, although I had a plan to cover certain things it worked well, the last six months was a struggle and going in the red was common, again not too worried at the time as most penny's were accounted for......... except for a few big bills I wasn't expecting, now full time again and can't say I enjoy the extra time at at work I am enjoying the full wage.

I've always said once the Daughter talks of marriage or house etc then the L42 and T's will be on the market...

Just finished reading this book yesterday. What an absolute Disgrace & Unessacary Waste of Public funds & Resources! A man & his Family put through unimaginably unfair process, & ruination!

The reprehensible conduct by the Government & the then HM Custom's & Excise. Is mind boggling, & angering in it's arrogance. & contempt for it's citizens!!!

The sad fact that after James's 25 year painful, & expensive struggle. To clear his name & recoup compensation. Was short lived after his success. The Poor Chap Passed away 10 years after the final conclusion!

The only tantalising question I would LOVE to know the answer to is: How much was the actual figure of his compensation?.....
