WW1 British Sniper scope on Ebay

    Hello All,

I was wondering if anyone has seen the latest WW1 Sniper scope listing on ebay, It looks like a Germanicon Scope with Britishicon style reticle to me. One that's been fitted to a sporting rifle after the war, as the engraving suggests. I recognise bits of it and the mounts but cannot put my finger on it. This scope looks closest to a voigtlander from what I see and the mounts look a bit German to one of those side mounts with a lever type. It would go nicely on my Ross Target rifle, or Lee speed. Any help pls, would be appreciated.

    Regards Ian.

I suspect it may well be a Voigtlander. I'm not saying it couldn't be WW1 Britishicon sniping issue, but I'm not clear how he justifies that claim. The range drum has typical civvy markings & I think it is probably a just pre or post WW1 instrument retailed by Alex Henry for a sporting rifle. Somewhere I have a Watts scope with the same rings, which mate to a side mounted base. I have two of the bases, one contoured for a MLE or MLM, & the other for a SMLE.

    Hi Roger,
Thanks again, that's what I thought, and I've even seen a picture of a CLLE fitted with that mount, for sale in Australiaicon, but it's got a good sized bid on it so I wondered if I was missing something.

    Best regards Ian
