    The best Skennerton LE Book???

    Hi Guys

Can someone advise me which of these books I should be buying in order to increase my overall knowledge of the Lee Enfield series and in particular the various .22 training rifles.. Any advice on the best sources would be appreciated.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. I will accept PayPal, Zelle, MO and good old checks (and cash if you want to stop by for a tour!). CLICK BANNER to send me a PM for International pricing and shipping. Manufacturer of various vintage rifle scopes for the 1903 such as our M73G4 (reproduction of the Weaver 330C) and Malcolm 8X Gen II (Unertl reproduction). Several of our scopes are used in the CMP Vintage Sniper competition on top of 1903 rifles. Brian Dick ... Ian's standard book on the whole Lee Enfield family of rifles appeared as 'The Britishicon Service Lee' IIRC in the early 1980's, or thereabouts. As he collated more information the book enlarged & morphed into 'The Lee Enfield Story'. I think there have been two editions of that, again, the latter expanded, with additional info, over the former. So, if you want the most comprehensive coverage of them all I would suggest looking out for the most recent edition of the LES.

The LES (from my library) on the bottom left is that latest and probably the last of them it is an expanded Ed of the other 2 Ian did, the mauve one is a collectors grade which I think was limited to 300 signed copies (I'm at a mine site so cannot verify this).
The other book that is comprehensive on the Lee Enfield is The Lee Enfield Rifleicon By Major E B Reynolds (Not pictured) this is a good source on the development of the series of lee's but can be a little pricey.

Stratton's book is also a good source of information but I would go if you are book buyer go with the last one of LES and Strattons book.

Sorry guys the lap top won't load the 4 book picture any other way just copy to your desktop and flip it there computers are my bain

"The Lee Enfield - A century of Lee-Metford and Lee-Enfield rifles and carbines" is the latest version.

The book shown in the first of Cinders' photos - the upper right one (would be lower left if picture was right way up)

    Britishicon Service Lee 1982
    Lee Enfield Story 1993
    The Lee Enfield 2007
