Psst, lady, just because the assault capacity clip wasn't inserted into the bayonet lug doesn't mean the rifle was rendered inoperable. Cutting the barrel shroud while the bullet tube was attached to the machine-gun is a felony. You need to cut the pistol grip off first,,Duh.

Perhaps she will inspire others across the nation to do the same and we will be rid of them while they sit behind bars, losing their rights to ever again own a firearm and hopefully vote.

She will probably be charged as if not then how can you enforce the law?

Pretty stupid move but then consider the source.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

She Should Be Charged, Randy Weaver Was !!

I've read so many comments from the NO Gunners, that I can't help but sit here amazed at how ignorant most are of the gun laws. Most don't have a clue where the legal boundaries lie. Attempts by the unaware to make a firearm "Inoperable" can and will crowd the legal outlines.

It's this 'Show Boating' to the wanting to be in the Current Limelight groups, just to draw attention or get the Spotlight on you and your supposed cause that gets to me.
This had absolutely nothing to do with Public Safety. This 'Barrel Cutting' was just a cut-rate campaign ploy with a touch of reality tv drama added. Nothing more than a 3 ring circus act performed for personal and monetary gain.
Wouldn't the public, who she hopes to represent been better served had they been informed how to be sure the firearm is unloaded? And how to properly dispose of per BATF rules?

Can you imagine the number of No Gunners (of whom most have shown their lack of knowledge when handling a firearm) that might try to copy cat what shes done and find themselves in a world of legal hurt, not to mention the chance of messing with a possibly loaded arm..... because they've seen a video? Thankfully she didn't clamp up a few loaded magazines and take her cut off grinder to those !

I can understand an elderly woman (or anyone for this matter) calling their local police to remove arms from the home, that they no longer need or have the mental or physical capability of safely storing or caring for.

Wouldn't donating this rifle, or like the example above of no longer needed arms to the proper authorities better serve the public's safety. The Same Public Safety that she uses as her reasoning for attempting to destroy the AR15.
This way, the cash strapped Authorities can auction or sell off arms they'd have no use of to Qualified Buyers. The funds could then be used in programs to train new guards or for better security enhancements ...... etc.
Any arms turned in that the Authorities find acceptable to be used in training operations or possible field issue then could be put to use.

    Will She Be Charged?

Will The BATF Circle Her Home ?

This makes me recall a place called Ruby Ridge, a guy named Randy Weaver who cut down a couple shotguns. But when the truth came about, the events were cloudy at best.

In 1989, a confidential informant for the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms struck up a relationship with Weaver and, in a move that was later dismissed as entrapment, advised and persuaded Weaver to saw off the tops of shotguns, breaking federal law.

ATF agents used the charges to approach Weaver about becoming an informant himself, but he refused.
Weaver was arrested for sawing off the shotguns in January 1991. Weaver later failed to appear in court and a bench warrant was issued.
On Aug. 21, 1992, a crew of six marshals went to surveil the property in person.

The Weaver’s dog alerted the family of the marshals’ presence and Randy Weaver, son Sammy, 14, and their family friend Kevin Harris went to investigate, bringing weapons with them. A firefight ensued after one of the marshals fatally shot the dog.

The two sides exchanged gunfire and, afterwards, Sammy and Deputy U.S. Marshal Bill Degan lay dead.

Officials noted that they were "unable to determine conclusively who fired the first shot during the exchange of gunfire."

The next day, as Randy Weaver, his daughter Sara and Harris were going to visit the body of Sammy Weaver, which family members had moved to a nearby shed, an FBI sniper shot Randy Weaver in the armpit. As the three ran back into the house, the sniper fired a second shot that hit Harris in the chest and went through the door and fatally struck Vicki Weaver, who was standing behind the door while holding the family’s infant daughter.

Vicki Weaver was fatally shot on the second day of the standoff, which wasn’t publicly disclosed until day nine.

Randy Weaver and Harris were arrested on numerous charges, though Weaver was later acquitted of all charges except for the original charge of missing his court date. Harris was also acquitted of charges related to the death of the marshal.

    UN F'ing believable,
This guy is currently replacing that worn out, now cut in 2 barrel down in his basement.

While the ATF is hiring :-) to catch this type and send them off to Gitmo.

Wait and see, We will hear about someone, maybe even a kid being injured attempting this same stunt.
May be nothing more than a few cut off fingers....... but it will happen.
