Lightbulb Red Star Remington Model 1903's

With the advent of this new 1903 forum, I thought some of the new members who aren't familiar with our Knowledge Libraryicon concept and design, might enjoy reading an outstanding article written last year by Advisory Panelicon member Terry Hawker, accompanied by a high quality 82 picture photo montage.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. For the record this is not a moneymaker, I hope just to break even, eventually, at $80/book plus shipping. In the USA shipping is $5.00 for media mail. The importer was persuaded to sell these rifles through the Red Star Military Museum and Sales, an act that he later deeply regreted. This is a good article. I would note the following minor corrections:

"the old gentleman was offered crates of surplus rifles."
He wasn't OFFERED anything. He sought, and went to great lengths to accomplish, the purchase of Remington 1903 rifles which he was aware were stored in Englandicon after WWII. After their purchase they were crated for shipment to him.

". . . these crates followed the officer from duty station, to duty station."
    Not true.

Quite a grouping - did you all notice that one of the rifles Terry has doesn't have the "Remington" stamped on the receiver? Interesting!!

    I'm missing it?

    Rick,

I see the one without the "U.S." markings but don't see the one missing the "Remington" marking.

    Help Me.
