Books: Manufacture of the Model 1903 & The Rock Island 03'

Just added two books to my collection. Lots of detail in these two books might even be as smart as you guys someday.

    - Manufacture of the Model 1903 Springfield Service Rifle

    - The Rock Island '03

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. CS Ferris, a number of years ago, published a much-enlarged version of the book on RIA M1903s - have you seen it?

Hi Rick, I've seen it online. I got this RIA M1903 book from a rack dusty of books when I went to make a payment on my rifle. The Springfield Book I found online cheap so I grabbed it.

Good going on both ... the Springfield book used to sell for over a hundred bucks. I think the fact it is now available online, probably drove down the price.

Hey Rick, Wasn't that later version of C.S. Ferris' book on the RIA 03 co-authored by our very own John Beardicon?

Intresting, I have Ferris 1992 RIA book as you pictured USAicon Baker. So there a later updated book Rick?
The only co authored book with JB I know of is '1903 production and alteration 1905-1910' Bear.
Also, can you guys give more info on the 'Manufacture of the 1903' book? Would it be a good addition to Brophy, Hatcher, and Clark Campbells last edition, (which I don't have yet.)
    Thanks!

John contributed a "chunk" of C.S. Ferris' later RIA book, but not enough to be listed as a co-author. Nick brought out the "update about 2007 or so, if memory serves. It is called "Rock Island Rifle Model 1903". Scott Duff published it - not sure if it is in print, but fairly easy to find on the "used"market.

See if this link works to the online copy of the M1903 manufacture book. It basically shows the "technical" side of making the M1903.
