    Jap rifle help please

Picked this up other day. Is a duffel cut. ground mum, wood butt plate bad bore. there is some small things that are throwing me off if it is a type 38. Cut out on receiver right side behind bolt.
    thanks Mike

I am sure down the list as an expert, but it looks to me like a Mod.99 "last ditch". It has the plum shaped bolt handle and I think Tokyo arsenal.
When the experts show up , they will tell you the full scoop

It is a Kokura series 25 Type 99 rifle . Your photo is too poor to see the first number of the serial number [ what is it ? ] . The bolt is the correct type for the rifle , does it match ? It the serial number is one I do not have I would be interested in the rifle .

Please show the "duffel cut", but I believe that's as they came from the factory. I have a similar "Last Ditch" and my research showed that they were made in that configuration.

Now that I know the number , it is a series 24 . Your series mark in the photo was also to poor to see.
