Pics up next week, wood refurbished today, rifle complete strip down, detail clean of the action and bolt.

The worst of the dents steamed out, red scotch off all the layers of accumulated dirt and the start of the first of many linseed oilicon treatments.

Steaming out dents........ interesting, might have a go at the big 'scar' on the side of the wood on my No.5 with steam, which is the only major blemish on mine.

It works well on bruised wood, won't have much effect on woodwork that's been dented.

Always worth a go mind you. If you haven't tried it before, try on a spare piece of woodwork first to get the hang of it.

Lots of variables, type and cut of wood for instance. Go too far and you can raise the surface.

Give it a go, the results work well.

I also tried Liberon wood stopper on a couple of deep dents, wood pulp and cellulose based, it comes in a variety of colours, I mixed dark and mid oak to get a good match with the original wood colour.
