    GSM Marking

Came across a Carbine with both the Recoilplate and stock having the marking GSM added to them.

I don't know if it has anything to do with the GSM but the bolt has what looks to be a 14 digit number marked on it.

I tried a Google search and found a link to a CMPicon event called a GSM, where it stood for Garand-Springfield-Military Rifle Clinic. Which includes the M1icon carbine.
BTW, The location in this link is 30 minutes from my home
    The link: http://www.odcmp.org/0806/GSM_MI.asp

Do any believe this carbine may have belonged to a GSM club?
    Or any other thoughts?

    Thx

I just realized the link I posted was written up by a member of the CCRC, that's my rifle club.
Capitol City Rifle Club. I didn't know we had a dot org web site, not sure if it's current.

Hmm, something that's been on my watch list! Anywho, my thought has been it's tied in to a service member who owned it, but somethings don't make sense with that. I doubt it's anything earth shattering no matter what.

Charlie, That photo and story seems to date to about 2005. It very well may have been a CMPicon GSM program carbine that over the years was finally sold by CMP or was given to one of the instructors???????????
