    1918 BSA FTR 1953 questions.

    Hi everyone,
I picked up my first Enfield in over a decade and have some questions:

     photo 20180330_161124.jpg

Does anyone know what the 79^GA Is? I've only been able to find one other thread on another forum that showed it on a rifle almost identical to mine from 2012. Unfortunately, no one had answers on it.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. The 79 ^ GA mark is simply a post war inspection mark. You will find that type of mark, with different letter and number combinations, on the wood, receiver and barrels on all BSA post war FTR's and new made/FTR rifles done by Fazakerley.
