    I Agree,
    The OP on the Firing Lines more than likely made a mistake on the barrel date.
    Carbine looks to be in the same stock, from looking at some older pictures with the same scars on it. But in the current listing you can see the stock has been re-oiled..... more shine.
    And some of the metal finish wear has been 'touched up'.

    Main reason I brought it up was the crude grinding/stamping and slathered finish applied on the receiver. Just rough compared to other E versions I've seen.

    Clearly had a rough ride......

    I've seen a few of these and have a question. Is grinding of the receiver before the SN stamping "normal"? Some have a lot of grinding, some hardly any if at all.

    A few years back I passed on a nice, original appearing Winchester at a local show - price was $700. The bevel at the rear of the receiver looked like it had been ground on. Found out later that's not unusual - wished I would have known sooner! - Bob
