Play stupid games win stupid prizes.
Why use a 50 pound bomb when a 500 pound bomb will do?

In case you think I am out on a ledge with this particular thing our house was burgled whilst we were out they got 2 rifles and some ammo no bolts though, it is not nice coming home to a trashed house then having to deal with the police about the loss of the rifles one was a 1942 Lithgow MkIII the other a Parker Hale 1200 series in 22/250 which I brought from monies of my dads estate so that one really hurt me never been recovered but they are still on my FAL as stolen from some 20 years ago.
I wanted to sell the house but my wife talked me out of it though every now and then I think about what happened and just get a sad feeling.

Really sorry to hear that Ron, these "people" have no idea ( or give a to**) of the long shadow their criminal activities leave behind..
Latest news is that the CPS (Crown Prosecution Service) have confirmed no charges will be faced, a wise and sensible move.

Three nights ago the police were at my front door. It was dark but not "late" but we were just relaxing ready for bed watching TV. Not often we get visits from the police and really not often we get a knock at the door after dark. He had a stack of papers on him and a signature pad. Turns out he was making a Megan's Law notification for a convicted child rapist that moved in about 100 yards away from our house. They were canvassing the neighborhood notifying everyone. First thing I did after he left was go through the review process of where the defensive weapons were and break a third out of the safe to put in an upstairs location which I hadn't had yet. We also have pretty solid secure in your own home defense mechanisms here and little worry about being prosecuted for shooting an intruder. Security cameras are next I guess. I had been thinking about them anyway but this is going to speed up the process. Neighbors down the street were talking to my wife. They had been considering getting a firearm for the home and this has also sped up the process for them.
Guy committed the crime at age 19, he is now 32. He is required to have counseling once a month for the rest of his life. Considered a violent sexual predator. Rape of a child is someone under the age of 13. I haven't seen the guy yet, I do believe that people can be reformed but reformed people generally don't need counseling for the rest of their lives. Makes you think a bit. At 5'4, my daughter at least should be able to crush him like a bug but we aren't taking chances. Probably will also speed up the process of her getting her LTC and own handgun.

A few pan heads I should think, and spend the extra for a dedicated screen to monitor them. It isn't for sports or cartoons...and the digital recorder to accompany. Use an individual that does this for a living and he'll set it all up so you have no blind areas and the digital equipment so you don't have to monitor blank video like old Poscan...you only get vid when something wakes up your camera. You can have it to your phone and you can get it to alarm to you...see the man...

Having worked in law enforcement and having dealt with rapists and pedophiles, I'll be the first to tell you that sexual offenders rarely, if ever, are reformed. In fact, the psychologists I worked with would tell you that their 'social development' ends when they go to prison and it normally picks up at that point when they get out.
When I was working in law enforcement, the Dutch had a 'Catch 22' in their legal system for sex offenders that we, in NSW, admired. They classified sex offences as mental illnesses, and placed offenders in special facilities for the criminally insane. The 'Catch 22' was that sexual predation was an incurable mental illness requiring incarceration for life or medical intervention - castration. Once in, the only way out was to agree to permanent chemical castration.

My son in law already put me onto some very nice cameras. He has them himself. Infrared, so they see at night and are crystal clear, unlike those videos the police always release every time there is a shoplifter at Walmart. They are set up to your phone. I have to decide where and how to mount them as we live on a corner property very close to the walks on two sides. Front porch is my priority, probably side deck next and backyard third. 3 might leave me a blind spot. 4 would cover the three sides of the house I'm concerned with. 4th side is right up against a walk with streetlights, not too concerned with that one.

That's what I'm talking about. But they way the other side is today they are trying to normalize pedophiles and let rapist out of prison...something is backwards in our society
