Question about Type 38 bolt stop

Hi everyone,
I'm gathering parts for both Type 99 and Type 38 rifles to restore some old bring backs.
I have a question about the Type 38 bolt stop I just bought on E-Bay. It consists of two screws, an angled piece, and the larger main body, but it doesn't have any spring action holding it uninstalled---which is unlike the Type 99 bolt stop I bought, which has the release lever and can be held out and it springs back like it does on my Type 99 shooter.
I have never had a Type 38, so I have to ask if the bolt stop I have described for the Type 38 I purchased sounds OK...in that it has no spring action. I don't know whether to give the E-Bay seller positive feedback or return it. (Or buy some little spring I don't know about.)

Its been a while since I have had either a Type 38 or a Type 99 but I seem to recall them both having the same bolt release mechanism (standard Mauser M98 style). As to feed back it depends on what it was advertised as. If it never said spring included or only the parts that were included were advertised then they are off the hook.

Well, that sounds like sound advice. I looked at all the other type 38 bolt stop auctions on E-Bay and the complete ones have the same 4 parts mine came with...so I'll have to research the part on other sources. I can't put it on the rifle because I'm buying the parts for an older gentleman who has the rifle...which is nothing more than a receiver after it was sporterized, sawed off, and cannibalized long ago. It's an early 1.5 million Type 38 from Tokyo. No series mark.

FWIW - I hope these photos help. Definitely, a highly visible 'flat spring' powers the Type-38 bolt-release/ejector. The front tip of the spring is 'dovetailed' into the body of the 'latch'.

Your pictures helped out a whole lot!
I think I'm OK. Though I don't have the Type 38 with me, I compared a picture of my own with your pictures and see that what's missing from my E-Bay purchase is still on the rifle itself--which is over at my veteran buddy's house.
