M1 Carbine Trigger Housing Stamped R

I was talking to a friend out in AZ. He was at a show a while back and saw a trigger housing that was stamped "R" on the inside. No other markings at all. I searched the forum and web and came up with nothing. Anyone know who may have made it?

Here is a picture of a R marked cast trigger housing, the R is cast in and raised not stamped. As stated above it is believed to be made by Rimer Casting for National Ordnance. Additionally, CCNL 352-10 states that in 1969 Intertech had an ordnance contract for trigger housings which were found in the wrap with this same R cast mark. This pictured TH is an M2 housing with the 9 spring slot, which brings to question if it was made for National Ordnance why a M2 housing?

Your picture makes it hard to tell that the right rear magwall has been cut back, prolly cause of the overhead view. But it can be seen that the inside area forward of the trigger has been recessed for the 'Be Happy' parts. So clearly a M2 housing, like you said.

But again... Why the M2 Housing ? I see no records of sales or offerings of M2 style carbines to the public... ?
Could these have been made as a 1 size/type works for all ? To keep casting quick and easy to produce ?
I don't know, Maybe a possibility that some were made for law enforcement and some to supply Ollie's boys down in the jungle...

If they were originally made for the government, then it would make sense to make them M2 housings so they could be used in Viet Nam for rebuilding and such with the M2 being a hot item at that time.

That would make sense, but I am not sure we will ever know for sure if this was the case. I contacted Rimer Castings last year in hopes of getting information on their company's involvement in manufacturing the carbine trigger housings, unfortunately the company has changed ownership a few times over the years and the CEO had no knowledge of what I was talking about. I will say that the R marked trigger housing that I own was on a import marked S'G' carbine that I picked up at a gun show last year.

If it's an import then it's been here for quite awhile now. There are so many reasons for a possible change of the housing including the one on it at one time was a housing someone needed for another carbine to make it correct.
