    Somme First Phase

Just got this for the library pretty happy as it has always been that particular battle that has interested me, "The Somme First Phase" By Buchan H/C 1916 1st Ed just going to find its mate now The Somme Phase Two by the same author.
Lyn MacDonald does another good book on the Somme battle it took her 10 years to research & write .

Have just finished Mark Of The Lion about Charlie Upham V.C & Bar not many have won the V.C twice one at Crete the other in the desert in Africa when the N.Z forces were surrounded and they staged a break out.
He certainly gave the Jerries hell whilst a POW ending up in Colditz the Germanicon troops had a healthy respect for him he was lucky not to be shot a number of times whilst trying to escape.
