    Don't forget the other reason for 6.5x50sr was the fact the Russians bought a ton of Type 30 Arisakas from Japanicon during WWI to try and make up for the lack of rifles they had (spoiler it didn't make up the numbers required).

    I agree with you that the AK47 and the STG44 are not related as to how they function and such. The concept of the assault rifle was for both of them almost the same and in that sense the STG44 did lead to the AK47.
