PU Scope - Cloudy after first shot

I took the new to me Mosin Sniper rig with PU scope to range date for a fun shoot. The scope was clear before shooting and nothing seemed amiss. After the first shot the scope was cloudy with spidery streaks through the image - this has persisted since. It reminds me of the early scopes that paired lenses together with balsom - when the balsom ages it can fracture on recoil giving visual clouding.

Any advice on this PU scope and how to remedy it?
    Many thanks in advance!

That sounds like what exactly happened. All you can do is find someone that is familiar with them and have the lens cleaned and re laminated.

Thanks - sometimes, in cases like this I would like to be wrong and find a simpler solution!
I need to get this fixed as my eldest son took quite a liking to the rifle and produced his best groups ever with it!

Agreed, sounds like lens separation. I'd strip it and see. Redoing them isn't magic...I've done them before. Clean and reassemble...I don't use the old glues though.
    Regards, Jim

I suggest reading this Re-cementing doublet elements with Canadian balsam

    AND

ask Peter Laidlericon, a professional at refurbishing old scopes.
