    Mauser-vergueiro m1904/39 stock id

    Hi everyone,

Got myself this nice vergueiro rifle and as i was collecting info on the rifle, i kinda find the stock color different from other picture of those rifle on google. Everything is matching exept the barrel and id say the wood, as it lack any marking or anything exept on the upper handguard something that look like a I .It kinda feel weird to the touch too, so smooth and hard feel almost like plastic! As mutch if not more than the desk it sit on in the picture lol. Any history of those rifle being fitted in a new stock with the 1939 rework? Kinda curious if anybody have some info let me know

For me, your link leads nowhere. How about posting a good photo on this forum? No photo = no useful opinion

The handguard looks OK to me.
I have only once come across a stock with knots in the wood. It was a Chinese Mauser 98, and the stock had warped strongly away from the knot. As the knot on your stock is on the right, I would not be suprised if there is a distnct "kink" at this point, as the normal trunk wood shrinks differently to the knot wood.
It seems highly unlikely that this is an original Mauser stock, I can only assume it is some kind of replacement, made without regard to the long-term stability of the wood.

It may not be as easy to see on picture, but with the gun in my hand i can say the handguard is absolutely the same as the stock pieces. Exact same color and feel, dont think he is original either then. Wood looks okay at first glance but im im pretty sure the wood warped because of those knot because the magwell/trigger guard has to be hammered with a rubber mallet to get in and out because it is too tight

Guess ill see if i can find an original replacement stock one day, its already not matching anyway
