Type 99 questions
I just brought home a rather nice Type 99. I think it is a Toyo Kogyo manufacture and also think it is a Series 1. The serial number is 18, 8xx. Very nice bluing but no crest. Airplane sights but no monopod and no cleaning rod. The bore is in great shape and the rifle shows very little wear or tear. It needs a long cleaning rod? Do the repo monopods make sense? Barrel is 25 inches, all in all a nice find.

Depends what you want it for. I do historical presentations so I like my examples to be as close to issue as possible. I also am not a wealthy man so a repro monopod made sense to me. Same with the dust cover. You didn't mention that.
I would prefer original but $150 for a monopod and $100 for a dust cover are just too much, especially when the dust cover is numbered to the rifle and it will have a 1 in 999 chance of being the correct number. If you want all original, it's a lot cheaper to buy a complete correct rifle in my experience.
