    Strange?

I am getting a bit lost on the asking prices of the Lee Enfields now it seems that you plonk a new barrel in it (Does not say if its a modern copy) and then ask what you will.
If its a war time refurbish then it will have had to have been fired to adjust the POI for the new barrel and even then it should have FTR on it.
Anyway things are going a bit strange I know they do not make them anymore but this is just a run of the mill smelly and 2.5k is ridiculous!

Asking isn't getting though, watch and see how long it lies there and if it ends up reposted...

Donít let it bother you ol mate. Poorly worded add with just about no detail, but, if itís a very minty (hate this word) example that puts it into the as new bracket, itís probaly inline with every other opportunist seller around the country.

For the record, it will only he stamped FTR if it went through the factory between 1950 and 1959/60. Rifles refurbed before then were marked differently and not FTR

If it is as described and is genuinely unissued it will sell for over $2000. I base this on previous sales of similar rifles.

The seller would want to provide some good quality photos though so his claim can be confirmed or denied.

Crazy! What a snip! Buy now while stocks last!
Only 25 times the price of my genuine Fianna Fail unissued arsenal-refurbished SMLE, which had also received a new barrel as part of the refurbishment. Look up "Fianna Fail" in the forums.

So of the 2500, one imagines at least 2000 are supposed to be justified by it being unissued. At least that is what I presume the seller means, as every barrel must have been fired as part of the proofing and acceptance procedure. Unfired barrels don't exist outside the barrel-making department.

Unless there is very convincing evidence, this is a pure sucker price. However, they do say there's one born every minute. And some of them seem to have more money than knowledge.

Unfortunately Patrick these prices are the reality. Like as new No4 MkIIís or mummy wraps, all over 2000 in Aus these days.

As you would be well aware Cinders, prices on that particular online site - not just for Lee Enfields - can often be fairly inflated, and the descriptions based on lack of knowledge thru to pure fantasy.

Ah but CINDERS I think you missed one important part of this rifle which would make it worth that much easily: You see, it is of 1944 "VINTAGE" now tell me you don't see many of them floating around mate.
