    New Gun Wednesday...

Ok, so it was actually Tuesday...

Picked up a mint and ‘Irish Contract’ Lee Enfield No4 Mk2 from my FFL last night. Paid a bit more than I should have but significantly less than the $1500 I was looking at for one still in the mummy wrap. This thing is effing clean! Not a scratch or a dent to be found and it’s never been fired. Essentially a brand new rifle built in 1955. I’ve wanted a mint one of these for awhile so I’m pretty stoked.

It does delay a project to get a really poor shooting MkI* fixed up, but it also allowed me enough left over to pick up a Swissicon Schmidt-Ruben Model 1911 so that’s a plus. Too many guns I want and not enough cash...

Now back to saving up to repair that MkI*.

    A virgin, really.
I agree with you about the problem arising between the cash available and the nice rifles "floating" by ones nose..........
    Makes me sort of sick.

Well as always there's no way to 100% guarantee it's never been fired but that's what it was advertised as. Either way it's been well cared for and I'm a happy man.

I think there is a corollary to Murphy's Law in action here:

"The price of the goodies rises at a rate just fast enough to just stay ahead of the rate of savings"

    Or, something like that...

Don't get dismayed with it if it doesn't shoot great right off the bat. I've found that most of those, even if fired a bit by the first civvie owner, haven't even had the barrel broken in yet so it'll only get better with use.

The wood will probably need a good drink of raw linseed too. They are awful dry after being stored for 63 years.

I plan on putting at least a couple hundred rounds through her before re I get too concerned with accuracy. I’m just anxious to get out there.

The stock doesn’t seem too dry and everything is tight. But quick question, when applying the linseed oilicon am I good just rubbing it into the stock or should I take it out and get the inside too?

Amadeus, the important thing is that you love each other. Don’t bother about her past. She’s the product of it
