    early Russian 7,62,54R cartridges

The Russians adopted and started production of the 7,62x54R in 1893 at around 2080 fps, bullet was round nose cupro nickel around 210 grs. Later in 1908 a new 147 gr spritzer bullet was adopted at 2800 fps, this required new sights and crossbolts for the stocks. It was not until sometime after WW1 that all the weapons were converted. I even found a early case with the round nose bullet dated 1919 from Tula as the Russians still made both types.

Photo shows a clip of early Russianicon round nose ball cartridges and a 1897 dated training round with wood bullet.

Other photo shows Russians resting on the way to the front in 1914, note the early Mosin Nagant riflesAttachment 93556Attachment 93557
