Receiver Sight- MA Lithgow S.M.L.E. III* 1945?

I am, shall we say, 'Enfield Ignorant'... so I thought I would ask.
I have owned several military Enfields, non-sporterized, of various models and manufactureres, but never got the Enfield 'bug' uintil I came across what I think
is a No. 1 [???] Mk. III*, (but what do I know?), which was converted by Navy
Arms into a .45-70 Gov't- Yes, I am one of those .45-70 nuts.

I hope the two action pictures post corecly, and are large enough to ID!

The problem is a horrible commercial rear sight on the barrel, and the need for
a proper Receiver/Peep Sight.
In that vein, I have been searching for a correct Receiver Sight that does not
require modification to the receiver, so, I think, Parker Hale and/or BSA is what
I seek. But I know not where to look, as my last internet search turned up less
than helpful links.
I tried to search the Forums, but, with some 15-kadrillion pages, well...
One person at a local Gun Club said this:
"... Parker-Hale 5A, Australian made Central No. 4s are the most popular, common,
pricey backsights out there."

Any suggestions on where to turn are greatly appreciated!

Flea bay often turns up 5A's and the mounting hardware but it can get pricey as they along with others like the centrals, 5C etc are commanding good prices but sometimes you can get them a central around $130/USD the PH 5's will set you back around $200-225/USD (Going off current adds) best to try gun shows or rifle clubs that may have elderly members whom are quiting the sport as you always collect a few sights along the way.

Can't help with the sight. Just curious though, what kind of magazine is that? Looks like a variation of a No. 4 magazine though with only one flute. Was Lithgow having mags made that way at the end of the war?

Those are special made mags by the guys converting the rifles to 45/70. They go back to the original style.

Ah. Cool. I'd heard of those rifles. Never seen a good picture of them.

Why don't you try a NZ made JNT aperture sight? They don't require modifications to receiver and once set at your desired range you forget about them. They were used in NZ for deer culling. Not as refined as the PH5A or Central sights but it won't break the bank either. PM me if you want more details on it as I have one spare (not the example pictured though).
