I have shot a lot of targets that showed that hole, and the hole didn't line up with the back of the paper. I have a tendency to use b size sheets of colored construction paper. Fold in middle, electrical tape x on it. just made a new target where the holes don't line up in the paper.

cant really believe a cast 170 slug will be able to hit a piece of paper at 100 yards, and then somehow physically move so that the other matching hole is 2 inches away

also I have had GAS CHECKS make similar looking holes in target paper. kind of funny too.

Yes you are right . I only have run 1000's of matches and scored 10,000's of targets over 20 years . Test fired 100,000's of rounds through 1000's of rifles . Been a ranked Benchrest shooter , builder of custom rifles . I can see by your questions in your posts that you are a beginner with out much of a clue .

Would load data for that weight cast bullet in a .30-40 be a good place to start?

Similar bullet weight, similar twist rate, and all that.
