FINALLY CLEARED UP AFTER 75 YEARS

This WW2 training tragedy finally cleared up after 75 years.
They hushed up the U.S. lads killed in their hundreds at Slapton Sands when the E Boats torpedoed them out at sea,so it doesn;t surprise me!
    RIP to all

Not exactly a secret. Fairly well known and covered in hordes of books.

Slapton Sands landings, yes. River Tay parachute incident, no.

I wonder how many similar instances were covered up. I understand the need for secrecy at the time, but the records should have been released when the war was over.

    RIP to all those lost.

Thanks, first time I’ve heard of this. I bet the guy who refused to exit the plane felt the refusal to jump was justified. I’d take the charge over death any day.

Slapton Sands............they moved the whole village away, to keep it quiet. I think in the best part it worked and the press did not hear of it till much later!! For a change!!
