Opinions: Commercial FN Mauser Rifle Bolt 7mm Rem

I have been considering buying a Commercial FN Mauser Rifle Bolt action in 7mm Rem rather than building one off a 98 action for my next Deer rifle. I've been going back and forth on rifles and really wanted a 7MM (something) anyone have any experience with this rifle?

I also was considering the Bergara B-14 Woodsman in 7mm Rem but I've got a thing for Mauser actions and sports a Remington like action.

I'm late to the party but since no one else has offered any opinions here are my thoughts.

First, I assume you mean 7mm Remington Magnum. Don't fool with trying to build one from a 98 Mauser action. Too many things to modify and really not worth the time and expense. If you want a Mauser action buy the commercial one already in the calibre you want.

The Bergara B14 is a great bargain. ($899.00, NIB in our store) Fit and finish are very nice. In addition to the excellent barrels, they have the BEST trigger pull of any factory rifle currently offered except Kimber.

I like the Kimbers also, and they are excellent. But the price for them will be considerably more than the Bergara and availability is difficult to predict.

    Good Luck!!

I agree with Emri if your going to build a mag cal. To ruin a good k98 is no in my honest opinion a real waste, there is so many sporter's out there now. Buy a nice new action an start from there.
