Post Lithgow S.A.F Steel Specification Data Sheets and Inspection Criteria.

Lithgowicon S.A.F Steel Specification Data Sheets.

Pages 1to 5 are Steel Tender Instructions, pages 6 to 12 are 1912 spec's from SAF 1 to 14.with handwritten notations by J.K. Jensen, who revised the Spec's from 15 to 11.

Spec Sheets 1 to 11 are the Spec's used from 1915 to 1950, showing the Steel Specification and the components made.

O.F Spec. Sheets No. 34 to 110 are the modern ones and were used from 1950 to the present. These sheets can be cross referenced by checking against the SAF sheets, for example O.F No.64 A16 =SAF No.9

Note: After you click on images to ENLARGE them, you may find they automatically size smaller in your browser's window making them harder to view. The auto sizing is your browser's way of keeping images entirely within the screen size you have set. Move your mouse pointer to the bottom centre of the pic and you will see an options panel appear. There will be a small square box next to the large X, which will have a pointer arrow sticking out of it. If it's illuminated, it means the pic you're viewing can be enlarged, so click on this box and the pic will EXPAND and open to its normal size. You can then grab the pic with your mouse (hold down left mouse button) and move it around to look more closely at various parts of the photo.

    A question.

What do you mean by "modern" ones and used from 1950 to the present? I thought Lee Enfield Production stopped in 1950 thereabouts? Or is this more what the current specifications of gun steel are that is currently used in the assault rifles used today by the Britishicon Army?

These next 34 sheets are the Rifle Inspection sheets.
The Enfield sheet, then the India Sheets and finally the adoption of parts of both in relation to Lithgowicon Rifles.
The Lithgow sheets to be cross referenced to the others by either an E or I depending on which Inspection was deemed suitable.
