    Garand/Report on Cabellas Wheeling WV

Saw a decent 2mil SA at Cabellas in Wheeling WV this morning. The bad news is they wanted $1000 for it, and it had a 1952 barrel.

The good news is that it had a nice(and genuine) EMcF stock and proof "P" with no rebuild marks, a grooved rear handguard clip, an uncut curved-side op rod(don't know the revision number but could see it was uncut through the stock cut-out), excellent condition WRA buttplate, and type2 SA lockbar sight.

I passed on it because I'm not really into restoring Garands anymore, but if I was looking for a genuine EMcF stock, lockbars and other collector parts I would have probably snatched it up, stripped off the goodies, and then tried to re-sell the rifle as a shooter for 500-600 dollars.

Oh, they were pretty much flat out of primers for pistols and rifles, and very very low on bullets for .223 and out of 9mm and 30 carbine.... They did have some Winchester .223 Brass for sale(about 8-10 bags or so) so I picked up 200 just because...very low on powder too.

With that stock it was probably worth the money...Let alone with the grooved clip and op rod...Oh yes the butt plate also...

Saw a beat up M1icon in the Michigan store, a few years back. They wanted $750, as I recall. No way it was worth that much. Cabela's isn't the best place to buy milsurps. They're a hunting rifle shop.
