    gas cylinder carbon fouling

whats the preferred method of cleaning carbon buildup out of the inside of the gas cylinder?
I have been using a 22 cal wire brush to clean out the holes but the recess inside the gas cylinder is full of crud. I tried the reamer tool on the handle of the combo toll Mk1 but its too big (still cant find anything it fits in)

I made a brass scraping tool. You can sharpen it when necessary and they don't hurt anything.
